Life is meant to be enjoyed, not bogged down with faddy diets, extreme work outs or health issues.

Let’s face it, there is a lot of information out there.  You are feeling overwhelmed, frustrated, confused, and maybe even a little afraid.  I know because I’ve been there! I know what it’s like to be starting out with plant-based eating.

I ALSO KNOW WHEN YOU TAKE THAT FIRST BIG STEP TOWARDS YOUR HEALTH
YOU WILL FOREVER CHANGE THE DIRECTION OF YOUR LIFE FOR THE BETTER
IT STARTS HERE.

MY JOURNEY

  • It was 1999, my marriage had ended, my business was failing, I was on Government Welfare and in rented digs.  No money in the kitty at all.
  • I relied on my friends’ charity for vegetables from their gardens and the occasional freshly caught fish.   All of this meant I was having to make severe cuts to my spending.
  • My health was at an all time low due to the stress I was under.
  • My skin was grey, my face gaunt, I had lost too much weight and I wasn’t sleeping very well at all.  No surprise there!
One of the first things to go was meat which was quickly followed
by cheese and eggs ….  all expensive items.
  • But – I had turned to a vegan way of eating with only the very occasional animal product, plus the vegetables and fruits I was consuming had vastly increased, it wasn’t long before I noticed a few things were changing with me.
  • My skin lost the grey, sick look and started to become soft with more vibrancy.  I put on a bit of weight, nothing too much, but enough to get rid of the “gaunt” look.
  • Even my sleeping was improving.

Looking back I realize it wasn’t easy.  There was no support.  There were very few vegans out there.

It was because of my trials and tribulations that I started writing my books and from there I found a deeper calling:

One to support and guide a beautiful woman like you
so you can have wonderful health and vitality.

If you enjoy reading stories, here is mine

Life is not supposed to be difficult and it wasn’t while I was married and bringing up my three children.  However, in 1998 my marriage ended and that’s when things really started to fall apart.

A year later I was on Government Welfare as my business couldn’t support me at all – it was going the way of my marriage, down the drain and all of this meant there was no spare money at all.

I relied on my friends’ charity for vegetables from their gardens and the occasional freshly caught fish.   All of this meant I was having to make severe cuts to my spending.

One of the first things to go was meat which was quickly followed by cheese and eggs …. all expensive items.

My health was at an all time low due to the stress I was under.

My skin was grey, my face gaunt, I had lost too much weight and I wasn’t sleeping very well at all. No surprise there!

However, because I had turned to a vegan way of eating with only the very occasional animal product, plus the vegetables and fruits I was consuming had vastly increased, it wasn’t long before I noticed a few things were changing with me.

My skin lost the grey, sick look and started to become soft with more vibrancy. I put on a bit of weight, nothing too much, but enough to get rid of the “gaunt” look.

Even my sleeping was improving.

I was certainly enjoying my new found foods, however, all of this presented a number of challenges.

I was certainly enjoying my new found foods, however, all of this presented a number of challenges.

Eggs had always been my “go to”.  They were such a quick meal and one that I really loved.  This was a big challenge and it was by trial and error that I came up with ways of replacing an egg meal with other things.

Cheese.  What to do about cheese?  Although I wasn’t a big cheese eater, I did love cheese sauce or melted cheese over cauliflower etc.  This was one food that took me years to master, now, it’s so easy to have a melted vegan cheese – easy to make a vegan cheese sauce and again I can enjoy the cheese and crackers with my glass of wine.

Other challenges were from the outside such as other people or places.

Back then, it was incredibly difficult to get animal free food in any café or restaurant and I became very good at “mixing up” a menu to suit my tastes.  Couldn’t be done everywhere, but with a bit of humour and being “sweet” I could get it most of the time.

Public perception can be very extreme both with friends and stranger so I have learned when to say I’m vegan, when to say I’m plant based and when to say I have an allergy to animal protein.

Now I have no challenges at all.

I stumbled on being a vegan.  I didn’t go vegan for the animals, for my health or for the planet.  I went vegan simply because I couldn’t afford animal protein in all its forms.

What began as simply cutting costs started me on a journey of awareness of the animal industry, our environment and a massive improvement in my health.

I am a 65 year old woman (at time of writing), and I am fit, healthy and happy going into my senior years.  I look at my meat eating contemporaries and see that they are on medications for high blood pressure, cholesterol and other “aging” ailments.  They have had hips or knees replaced and break bones if they fall.  Many are very much overweight or have swollen feet, arthritis.  Most have bowel issues, kidney issues or gastric issues of one type or another. And there are others who appear fit and healthy, but suddenly have a stroke or a heart attack.

I haven’t been to the Doctor for years, apart from having my blood tested once a year to make sure I have enough iron, calcium, vitamin B12 – that my cholesterol is good along with my blood pressure.

Can a change to plant based or vegan do this?  It did for me.  And it is because of my journey, because my eyes and heart have been opened to the wonderful, healthy world of plants that I have been inspired to write my books and get out there to help as many people as I can to experience what I have, only in a much easier way.

What started as an incredibly sad and stressful time, having to scrimp on the food and rely on the generosity of friends was really a blessing in disguise.

I am a vibrant woman now with clarity of thought, health of body and a passion to teach and guide others on how they too can age gracefully.
